I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW THE RAIN IS GONE

Look in any bookshops; watch any film or TV and you will not find a main character who is a radiographer. Sadly many people outside of a hospital are ignorant of their roles. But whatever country you live in around the world the chances are during your lifetime you will come into contact with one. This book corrects this anomaly.

This is the first of hopefully many books whose main character is a radiographer-Mark Walker. In this novel

Mark who has been through a traumatic event in the past finds himself in another similar situation. He has in his charge ten radiographers. One is a new young graduate and his dilemma over what duties to assign to her are hard to resolve.

For this my first novel, I reflected on the experiences of the parents of Dunblane. My wife and I, together with our young children (5 and 6 respectively), had been in the audience when one of the children of Dunblane was interviewed in 1996. I also work in the hospital where most of the victims were treated. In 2008 my daughter became pregnant, and this led me to reflect on the feelings of the parents denied grandchildren. The novel is written from a parent’s perspective. There are no gory details. A TV producer after reading it said: ‘…I should stress that I didn't find anything in your novel sensational or exploitative….’ You will laugh, cry and empathise with the characters, and at the same time be educated about radiography.
